Night of Power/Laylat al Qadr:-
This is the night in which the angel Gabriel allegedly revealed himself to Muhammad with the first of the Quranic verses.
This night should have become the most important and defining moment in the Muhammadan calendar. This should have obviously been the start of the 'Islamic' calendar instead of the date of the Hijra/Emigration.
This was not to be, because of the incredible fact that Muhammad - allegedly a paramount and infallible prophet- actually forgot on which of the nights of the month of Ramadhan it occurred.
A prophet is supposed, by definition, to be able to foretell the future; yet Muhammad could not even remember the present and or the recent past.
What is even more astounding, is the 'fact' that according to Muhammadan tradition, he went running to his wife Khadija to inform her of the 'revelation' as well as to her venerable but very knowledgeable uncle, Waraqa bin Naufal.
These two 'witnesses' should have been very capable of 'reminding' and asserting the date of the 'revelation'; but for some unexplainable and unfathomable reason, they were not consulted.
Maybe, this tradition too, is only the figment of imagination of the later story tellers about Muhammad and his deeds.
Sura al Qadr--97:1 We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power (Laylat al Qadr): 2 And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is?3 The Night of Power is better than a thousand Months. 4 Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission on every errand: 5 Peace!... This until the rise of Morn!

(the mother of the faithful believers) The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Apostle was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright daylight, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food likewise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read."
The Prophet added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.' Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?' Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous." (96.1, 96.2, 96.3)
Then Allah's Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones."
Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the Pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allah's Apostle described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.
Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari narrated while talking about the period of pause in revelation reporting the speech of the Prophet "While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).' And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran):
'O you (i.e. Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments! Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment),...' up to 'and desert the idols.' (74.1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."
*** This is a copy of the meeting between God and Moses at the burning bush in
Exodus 3: 5 "And he said, Do not come any closer; take off your shoes from your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground.6. And he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God"
Every alleged event or act in the life of Muhammad was a copy of a similar one in the life of one or more of the Hebrew Prophets whom he so admired and wanted desperately to emulate***
Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 1.46 Narrated byAbdullah
The Prophet said, "Abusing a Muslim is Fusuq (an evil doing) and killing him is Kufr (disbelief)." Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit: "Allah's Apostle went out to inform the people about the (date of the) night of decree (Al-Qadr) but there happened a quarrel between two Muslim men. The Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about (the date of) the Night of Al-Qadr, but as so and so and so and so quarreled, its knowledge was taken away (I forgot it) and maybe it was better for you. Now look for it in the 7th, the 9th and the 5th (of the last 10 nights of the month of Ramadan)."

The Prophet came out to inform us about the Night of Qadr but two Muslims were quarreling with each other. So, the Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about the Night of Qadr but such-and-such persons were quarreling, so the news about it had been taken away; yet that might be for your own good, so search for it on the 29th, 27th and 25th (of Ramadan)."

I asked Abu Said Al-Khudri, "Did you hear Allah's Apostle talking about the Night of Qadr?" He replied in the affirmative and said, "Once we were in Itikaf with Allah's Apostle in the middle ten days of (Ramadan) and we came out of it in the morning of the twentieth, and Allah's Apostle delivered a sermon on the 20th (of Ramadan) and said, 'I was informed (of the date) of the Night of Qadr (in my dream) but had forgotten it. So, look for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. I saw myself prostrating in mud and water on that night (as a sign of the Night of Qadr). So, whoever had been in Itikaf with Allah's Apostle should return for it.' The people returned to the mosque (for Itikaf). There was no trace of clouds in the sky. But all of a sudden a cloud came and it rained. Then the prayer was established (they stood for the prayer) and Allah's Apostle prostrated in mud and water and I saw mud over the forehead and the nose of the Prophet."

The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Apostle was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, "Read, in the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists), has created man a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous." (96.1,2,3)

Allah's Apostle went out to inform the people about the (date of the Night of decree (Al-Qadr). There happened a quarrel between two Muslim men. The Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about the Night of Al-Qadr, but as so-and-so and so-and-so quarrelled, so the news about it had been taken away; and may be it was better for you. So look for it in the ninth, the seventh, or the fifth (of the last ten days of Ramadan)."
Some men amongst the companions of the Prophet were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the last seven nights of Ramadan. Allah's Apostle said, "It seems that all your dreams agree that (the Night of Qadr) is in the last seven nights, and whoever wants to search for it (i.e. the Night of Qadr) should search in the last seven (nights of Ramadan)."
*** The 'prophet' of Allah could not even remember the date of the most momentous event in his life***

Some people were shown the Night of Qadr as being in the last seven days (of the month of Ramadan). The Prophet said, "Seek it in the last seven days (of Ramadan)."

When the Prophet intended to write to the Byzantines, the people said, "They do not read a letter unless it is sealed (stamped)." Therefore the Prophet took a silver ring-as if I am looking at its glitter now-and its engraving was: "Muhammad, Apostle of Allah."

Allah's Apostle said to us, "Honesty descended from the Heavens and settled in the roots of the hearts of men (faithful believers), and then the Qur'an was revealed and the people read the Qur'an, (and learnt it from it) and also learnt it from the Sunna." Both Qur'an and Sunna strengthened their (the faithful believers)' honesty." (See Hadith No. 208)

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: I was shown laylat al-Qadr; then I was made to forget it, and saw that I was prostrating in water and clay in the morning of that (night), He (the narrator) said: There was a downpour on the twenty-third night and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) led us in prayer, and as he went back, there was a trace of water and clay on his forehead and on his nose. He (the narrator) said: Abdullah ibn Unays used to say that it was the twenty-third (night).
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 98 Narrated byAbuHurayrah
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) came to us as we had been arguing with each other about the Divine Decree (al-Qadr). He was so annoyed that his face became as red as if there had been squeezed on his cheeks the flesh of pomegranates. He said: Is this what you have been commanded to do, is this with which I have been sent to you? Those who had gone before you were destroyed as they disputed about it. I adjure you, I adjure you not to fall into argumentation in regard to it.
Tirmidhi transmitted it. Ibn Majah transmitted something similar from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As in Kitab al-Qadr No. 0085.
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 194 Narrated byJabir ibn Abdullah
Umar ibn al-Khattab brought to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) a copy of the Torah and said: Allah's Messenger, this is a copy of the Torah. He (Allah's Messenger) kept quiet and he (Umar) began to read it. The (colour) of the face of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) underwent a change, whereupon AbuBakr said: Would that your mother mourn you, don't you see the face of Allah's Messenger? Umar saw the face of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and said: I seek refuge with Allah from the wrath of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger. We are well pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet. Whereupon Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, even if Moses were to appear before you and you were to follow him, leaving me aside, you would certainly stray into error; for if (Moses) were alive (now), and he found my prophetical ministry, he would have definitely followed me. Transmitted by Darimi.
*** This is a remarkable story since it shows that either the Torah was TRANSLATED to Arabic, or that Umar was able to read Hebrew.
Either way, it has enormous implications regarding the extreme integration of the 'Jews' in the Arabian society ***
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 2091 Narrated byAisha
Aisha asked Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) to tell her what prayers to say on Laylat al-Qadr if she knew which night it was, and he told her to say, "O Allah, Thou art forgiving and lovest forgiveness, so forgive me."
Ahmad, Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi transmitted it, and Tirmidhi declared it to be sound.

AbuBakrah heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) say, "Seek it (meaning Laylat al-Qadr), on the twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh, or on the last night."
*** How is it possible for a 'prophet' who by definition could foretell the future, yet could not remember the most astounding event in his life?
It is like a man or a woman forgetting the date on which their first born was delivered.
This is a very strange and extremely disturbing story since it reflects very badly upon the veracity and authenticity of most of the Quran.
It shows Muhammad in a very bad light as an undependable reporter of events as shown above in the disharmony and contradictions among the numerous 'traditions' of the same event ***
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 2215 Narrated byUbayy ibn Ka'b
Ubayy told of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) meeting Gabriel and saying, "I have been sent, Gabriel, to a people who are unlettered, among whom are old women and old men, boys and girls, and men who have never read a book." He replied, "The Qur'an, Muhammad, has been sent down in seven modes."
Tirmidhi transmitted it.
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 3.144 Night of Qadr, its virtue
The night of qadr is the most virtuous night of the year. Allah says in the Qur'an: "We revealed it on the night of power [that is, qadr]. What will tell you what the night of power is? It is better than a thousand months." Any action therein, for example, reciting the Qur'an, making remembrance of Allah, and so on, is better than acting for one thousand months which do not contain the night of qadr.

Ziyad related to me from Malik from Humayd at-Tawil that 'Anas ibn Malik said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came out to us in Ramadan and said, 'I was shown a certain night in Ramadan and then two men abused each other and it was taken away. Look for it on the ninth and the seventh and the fifth.' "

We were at Mirbad. A man with dishevelled hair and holding a piece of red skin in his hand came. We said: You appear to be a bedouin. He said: Yes. We said: Give us this piece of skin in your hand. He then gave it to us and we read it. It contained the text: "From Muhammad, Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him), to Banu Zuhayr ibn Uqaysh. If you bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah, offer prayer, pay zakat, pay the fifth from the booty, and the portion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his special portion (safi), you will be under by the protection of Allah and His Apostle." We then asked: Who wrote this document for you? He replied:
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him).

I read in the Torah that the blessing of food consists in ablution before it. So I mentioned it to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: The blessing of food consists in ablution before it and ablution after it.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) read the verse mentioned above, "min du'f."
*** As usual with Muhammad, to overcome his sense of low self esteem, he had to use his one up-manship over the Jews.
In fact, the Jews wash their hands both before and after eating as copied by Muhammad ***
